Alt2Su Group Facilitation – Community of Practice & Training

Alt2Su Group Facilitator Community of Practice

Alternatives to Suicide Group Facilitators are encouraged to join us to co-create an ongoing, mutually supportive Community of Practice.

Facilitated by Alternatives to Suicide trainers from DISCHARGED, it is hoped that this FREE online forum will provide support, community connection and co-learning for current Alt2Su Group Facilitators, and a space for new or returning facilitators to increase confidence.

Our goals are to ensure fidelity of the Alternatives to Suicide approach and alignment to charter, to protect the integrity of Alternatives to Suicide, and to expand the approach and groups in Australia.

Initial gatherings scheduled for November 2026 will be an opportunity to discuss intentions, format, timing, and facilitation of the Community of Practice moving forward.

Two initial gathering times have been proposed to account for different availabilities. You are welcome to attend one, or both if you prefer.

Support for untrained co-facilitators

Alt2Su groups require two co-facilitators. At least one of these facilitators must have completed the Group Facilitation training. We understand that a number of co-facilitators have not had the opportunity to complete their training as yet, and we are keen to support those folks to access this upcoming training opportunity.

To access a supported place (with a sliding scale cost of $0 to $250 depending on your financial circumstances), please speak with the trained Group Facilitator that you have been co-facilitating with, about them completing a Letter of Support for you. Ideally, when you apply, you will have been attending the group regularly and have co-facilitated at least a few times. You will also be committed to continuing to attend and offering to co-facilitate.

Please download this Letter of Support template for guidance and email it to us at alt2su.nsw@insideoutconversations.com.au

Cost (inc. GST)

  • Agency rate: $1,320.00
  • Self funded rate: $825.00
  • Supported ($0 – $275) places* available for current Alt2Su Group Co-facilitators who are yet to complete the training

* To access a supported place in the training, you will need to provide a letter of support from a trained Alt2Su Group Facilitator whom you have been co-facilitating with. Please see the Support for untrained co-facilitators information above.
