Expressions of Interest for two casual Research Assistant roles

Alt2Su NSW is inviting expressions of interest for two lived experience/peer researchers to work in casual research roles in the second half of 2021.

About the role

Your primary role will be to facilitate research interviews and/or focus groups with research

participants, who will be people who currently attend Alternatives to Suicide (Alt2Su) groups or who have been involved in Alt2Su in some way.

You will be part of a small research team and will work in collaboration with the team for approximately 4 hours per week (hours per week will vary depending on the scheduling of research interviews with participants). The casual pay rate will be $50/hour.

About the research project

You will be working in a small research team on a project that is looking at the experiences of attending Alt2Su groups. Interviews will be recorded and transcribed by a professional transcription service.  A university-based researcher will provide you with some training on qualitative thematic analysis techniques.  You will then be involved in co-analysing the interview transcripts, in collaboration with others on the research team.

It is anticipated that interviews/focus groups will take place in the second half of 2021. Analysis will take place following the interviews/focus groups, and the final stage of the project will involve the opportunity to contribute to a report and scholarly article.

Selection criteria

Essential criteria are experience with the Alternatives to Suicide approach/groups, and interest/experience in research. Highly desirable criteria are completion of Alternatives to Suicide group facilitation training.

How to apply

Please email alt2su.nsw@insideoutconversations.com.au with a copy of your resume and a one-page cover letter elaborating on your skills, experience and interest in the role.

The closing date for EOI applications is 9am Monday, 14th June, 2021.
